A city named after St. Francis of Assisi, the patron St. of Animals Merchants and Ecology, has a plot of land known as the Devil’s Acre. You take the good with the bad, but my trip was no different.
Seattle, Washington - September 2017
Strange as it may sound, I've always felt a closeness to Seattle because of the music scene and my youth. To this day I listen to KEXP more than any other radio station. I had a great run while in town and took home a few cocktail recipes as souvenirs.
Lisbon, Portugal - January 2017
In the Fall of 2000, I spent a few weeks in the Algarve, which is Portugals Southern most region. This was my first international travel experience, You can imagine my excitement upon returning to the country I had seen almost 20 years prior.
Istanbul, Turkey - February 2016
Stayed in the former finance district of Istanbul at Vault Karakoy. One of my friends got a beat on the hotel after being highlighted in the NY Times Travel section. The complimentary envelope and letter head was one of my favorite souvenirs from the trip, It's the little things I know.
Madrid, Spain - January 2015
At the time of my visit, Madrid was going through some economic difficulty and political change. Having read some Earnest Hemingway on the subject of the Spanish Civil war, it brought to light the significance of the beautiful plazas in the neighborhoods and blocks of town.
